The global chamber meetings are an opportunity for members to provide their thoughts on the final motion text and define their general chamber positions on the motions.
Motions and methodology
On 15 September, members will meet with their respective chambers to discuss the final motion text, identify priority motions for the chamber and define their general positions on the motions. Then on 22 September, each chamber will share their general positions on the motions with the other chambers.
The current motions text is available online here, and the final version can be accessed through the same link on 03 September 2022.
Please note that in the original membership engagement plan there were 4 chamber meetings scheduled in September. However, in order to allow members the ability to discuss the motions during the week of the General Assembly, FSC has now reduced this to 2 meetings in September and 2 meetings during the week of the General Assembly.

FSC International held the Second Conversion Dialogue, which took place online on November 30, 2020 at 11:00 (CET), and an identical second session at 16:00 (CET).
The following topics were covered:
- Plan for further dialogue on conversion towards the upcoming FSC General Assembly (GA) in October 2021. What can you expect as decision making process?
- Drivers for deforestation in regions, specifically Africa and North America
- Outcomes on discussions in the Conversion Working Group (WG) and Technical Working Group (TWG) after the consultation at the beginning of November.
FSC members vote for the FSC Board of Directors who are accountable to the members. The Board of Directors have the responsibility of monitoring the work of FSC, particularly that the motions passed at the General Assembly are being put forward.

FSC International held the Third Conversion Dialogue, which took place online on 03 march 2021 at 10:00 (CET), with an identical second session at 16:00 (CET).
The following topics were covered:
- An overview of the planned timelines for discussions and decisions in the different processes relevant for the Policy on Conversion. We will look at what is expected in the lead-up to the FSC General Assembly, what will be available for discussion and decision at the GA itself, and what will happen after;
- The process of alignment between FSC’s work on conversion and the Policy for Association with a particular focus on how we ensure that remedy is considered in a consistent way across the different work streams.
The FSC general assembly brings together hundreds of leaders and decision-makers from Indigenous Peoples, environmentalists, businesses, and others from FSC’s membership to discuss a responsible future for the world’s forests, and the people and animals who inhabit them. Delegates also include certification bodies, certificate holders, union representatives, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), and observers.

This webinar presented the board’s work to implement Motion 63 from 2017, including the efforts to develop a revised Network Policy and Procedure. FSC is seeking candidates for a technical working group to revise its Forest Management Evaluations Standard (FSC-STD-20-007) and its associated addenda. The call for applicants is open until 20 November 2020.
Malaysian environmentalist, Anthony Sebastian, has been appointed as the Chairman of the International Board of Directors of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Sebastian’s term of office runs from 10 November 2014 to 10 November 2015.
The review report of the FSC-PRO-30-006 V1-2 Ecosystem Services Procedure: Impact Demonstration and Market Tools is now available for public consultation until 09 January 2022 and can be accessed here. We invite all stakeholders to provide feedback.

The new round of transaction verification for okoume will cover FSC claims made between 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2019. The deadline for certificate holders to submit requested transaction verification data is 29 September 2020.
In preparation for the FSC General Assembly 2017, FSC International members are invited to attend FSC regional meetings.
FSC is updating the Lists of FSC Highly Hazardous Pesticides based on the existing criteria, indicators, thresholds and sources through an accelerated revision process as described in FSC-PRO-01-001 The Development and Revision of FSC Requirements.
FSC has opened registration to participate in the revision of the FSC general accreditation standard and related procedures through a focused consultation and expert working group.

FSC Remedy Framework defines permanent and effective measures required for remedy of harm caused by unacceptable activities as defined by the Policy for the Association of Organizations with FSC V2-0 or by conversion between 1 December 1994 and 31 December 2020.
The objective of this document is to specify the requirements for FSC-accredited certification bodies for developing Interim National Standard (INS) or Interim Regional Standard (IRS), depending on the geographic scope of the standard, for the certification of responsible forest management and the responsible management of non-timber forest products (NTFPs) at the Management Unit (MU) level. These standards shall be based on the International Generic Indicators (IGI) and shall address the regional, national or sub-national conditions in which they are to be used and shall consider input from local stakeholders. The FSC Board of Directors at FSC International, acting through the Policy Steering Group (PSG) shall approve Interim National Standards (INS) before they can be used for FSC certification purposes. In March 2020 the revised procedure was published to reflect the FSC Board of Directors’ decision during their 82nd meeting to delegate the approval of INS to the Policy Steering Group.
