Esta Conferencia de Alto Nivel tuvo lugar en línea el 9 de diciembre de 2020.
Los miembros del Comité de Planificación Estratégica del Consejo (BSPC) y los ponentes invitados analizaron diferentes cuestiones importantes relacionadas con la nueva Estrategia Global 2021-2026, y abordaron lo que la estrategia puede significar para su enfoque central.
La sesión fue facilitada por John Ramsay, facilitador usual de las Asambleas Generales de FSC. Al Thorne y Zandra Martínez, miembros del Consejo Directivo y del BSPC presentaron la estrategia y discutieron sobre lo que ellos ven como los principales nuevos elementos de la estrategia y cómo esperan que cambien al FSC.
Chris Elliott, director ejecutivo de la Climate and Land Use Alliance (CLUA) y miembro del Grupo Asesor Externo para la Estrategia Global, reflexionó sobre cómo la nueva estrategia se compara con la de hace más de 25 años.
Después tuvieron lugar tres sesiones temáticas en las que se hizo una referencia cruzada del debate con elementos de las tres estrategias, objetivos y resultados previstos:
Cómo aprovechar el papel de FSC como facilitador de soluciones innovadoras creadas de forma conjunta y basadas en los bosques para luchar contra el cambio climático: Pina Gervassi, directora de Cambio Climático de FSC Internacional y Walter Vergara alto miembro del Instituto de Recursos Mundiales (WRI).
Demostración del valor y los impactos de FSC a través de la liberación del poder de los datos: Michael Marus, jefe de información global de FSC Internacional y director de Tecnología de la Información, y Enrica Porcari, jefa de información y directora de Tecnología del Programa Mundial de Alimentos (PMA) y miembro del Grupo Asesor Externo de la Estrategia Global.
Ampliación de los beneficios para los pequeños propietarios y los pueblos indígenas: Vera Santos, gerente de proyectos del proyecto Nuevos Enfoques de FSC Internacional y Francisco Souza, director general de la Fundación Indígena de FSC.
Para cerrar esta sesión y preparar el camino a seguir, Kim Carstensen, Director General de FSC Internacional, reflexionó sobre las discusiones, perspectivas y oportunidades para continuar desarrollando juntos el camino para los años venideros.
