El Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) ha decidido establecer las condiciones para mantener la asociación con WOB Timber GmbH basándose en las recomendaciones de un grupo de expertos externos (panel de toma de decisiones), que fueron aprobadas por el Consejo Directivo de FSC Internacional. En junio de 2023, FSC y WOB Timber firmaron un Memorando de entendimiento (MdE), que estipula las condiciones que WOB Timber deberá cumplir en un plazo de 12 meses para mantener su asociación con FSC.
La marca internacional de moda H&M se comprometió recientemente a abastecerse de fibras celulósicas manufacturadas procedentes de fuentes sostenibles en sus productos – evitando, en particular, las fuentes de bosques primarios y en peligro de extinción y dando preferencia a los bosques certificados FSC – para finales del 2025. A través de este compromiso (en inglés), la empresa quiere contribuir a la lucha contra la degradación de los bosques y la deforestación. Las fibras podrían proceder también de textiles reciclados y residuos agrícolas.
A medida que nos acercamos a la Asamblea General de FSC 2025, el debate en torno a las mociones está cobrando fuerza. Con la fecha límite para las enmiendas del 19 de septiembre acercándose rápidamente, las próximas semanas son un momento crucial para involucrarse.
