La primera Asamblea General de FSC tuvo lugar en 1996 en México y desde entonces se celebra cada tres años en diferentes partes del mundo. La 9.ª Asamblea General se pospuso de su fecha original en 2020 y ahora se celebra en dos partes. Los resultados del tercer circuito de verificación de operaciones (VO) en cadenas de suministro de bambú certificado FSC revelaron que varios titulares de certificados de China representan una grave amenaza para la integridad del sistema de certificación del FSC.
