These global meetings amongst international members kicked-off motion discussions. It included the presentation of the highest-ranked motions resulting from the discussion prioritization exercise completed by the membership in early September. We showcased the survey results, followed by an introduction of the highest-ranked motions by chamber and a lively discussion with the motion proposers.
In these global discussions, members had the opportunity to discuss with the motion proposers of the two highest-ranking motions by chamber:

In this session, we launched the agenda for the Motion Discussions in 2022 and we presented the results of the Prioritization Survey for the discussion of FSC Policy Motions 2022.

In both global events, we presented the voting prioritization survey results, the agenda for the launch of the Statutory Requirements, an overview of all the motion discussions in 2020/2021, and the next steps of the motions process. Additionally, members were able to ask questions regarding the upcoming activities towards the Virtual GA 2021.

Aimed at FSC members and staff, this platform introduces the 16 priority projects the board selected for 2017, and will continue to be updated as progress is made.
Just as the forests are constantly changing and adapting, FSC’s standards, procedures and policies are continuously adapted, revised and developed to ensure responsible forestry globally.
Reflecting on the year, it’s clear that we have overcome many challenges and achieved a great deal together, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to Forests For All Forever. The objective of this document is to specify the requirements for FSC-accredited certification bodies for developing Interim National Standard (INS) or Interim Regional Standard (IRS), depending on the geographic scope of the standard, for the certification of responsible forest management and the responsible management of non-timber forest products (NTFPs) at the Management Unit (MU) level. These standards shall be based on the International Generic Indicators (IGI) and shall address the regional, national or sub-national conditions in which they are to be used and shall consider input from local stakeholders. The FSC Board of Directors at FSC International, acting through the Policy Steering Group (PSG) shall approve Interim National Standards (INS) before they can be used for FSC certification purposes. In March 2020 the revised procedure was published to reflect the FSC Board of Directors’ decision during their 82nd meeting to delegate the approval of INS to the Policy Steering Group.
