These global meetings amongst international members kicked-off motion discussions. It included the presentation of the highest-ranked motions resulting from the discussion prioritization exercise completed by the membership in early September. We showcased the survey results, followed by an introduction of the highest-ranked motions by chamber and a lively discussion with the motion proposers.
In these global discussions, members had the opportunity to discuss with the motion proposers of the two highest-ranking motions by chamber:
Motion 11/2020 Developing and applying social, environmental and economic indicators for the implementation of the FSC Global Strategic Plan (2021-2026), its monitoring, reporting and assessment Read the full motion here
Motion 28/2020 Overcome Value Chain Barriers by introducing a Simplified Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard for Small Operations Read the full motion here
Motion 04/2020 Strengthening the Network by enhancing membership engagement in regional offices Read the full motion here
Motion 18/2020 Withdrawal of motion 65_2014 and elaboration of effective forest protection measures Read the full motion here
We invite all members to continue the discussion and post questions or discussion points in the Motions Platform area for each motion for the session and for further discussion after the event. Having the questions posted means that the proposer can make responses there and the discussion can then continue in this area.
Recordings of the sessions, chat transcripts, and other relevant materials can be found below.

The Amazon rainforest is one of the world’s most vital ecosystems. As a massive carbon sink, it provides vital benefits for biodiversity, water, and global climate regulation. Yet deforestation is increasing. Between 2019 and 2022, Brazil’s National Institute for Space Research recorded forest loss of nearly 10,000 square kilometres per year. Identifying strategies to halt deforestation is crucial.
FSC will organize webinars between 15 and 18 May to discuss the decisions taken at the latest Board Meeting 77 (BM77). The webinars were initially planned from 26 April, but were rescheduled to give more time to members to prepare and send their questions beforehand.
