In this session, we launched the agenda for the Motion Discussions in 2022 and we presented the results of the Prioritization Survey for the discussion of FSC Policy Motions 2022.

In both global events, we presented the voting prioritization survey results, the agenda for the launch of the Statutory Requirements, an overview of all the motion discussions in 2020/2021, and the next steps of the motions process. Additionally, members were able to ask questions regarding the upcoming activities towards the Virtual GA 2021.

This two-day meeting will cover relevant FSC topics for members in Africa. The following topics have so far been recommended for the agenda:
Bukut Muria Jaya – a subsidiary of the Djarum Group - withdrew its FSC certificate and that has ended the association between FSC and the Djarum Group.
As mandated in the FSC Statutes, FSC has used the UNDP Human Development Index (HDI) Report to determine membership allocation to either the South or North sub-chambers.
FSC has extended the consultation period regarding the first draft of its Asia-Pacific Regional Forest Stewardship Standard for Smallholders (RFSS) until 15 July 2020.
FSC encourage all stakeholders to comment on the first draft of FSC Conversion Remedy Procedure (FSC-PRO-01-007 V1-0 D1-0). The deadline to participate is 30 June 2020.
The second draft of the FSC Policy on Conversion (FSC-POL-01-007 V1-0 D2-0) is now available for a public consultation until 16 February 2020 and can be accessed here.
FSC publishes a discussion paper on intensification in forestry and invites members, staff and other stakeholders to review and provide feedback.
FSC is seeking candidates for a technical working group to develop a new international procedure on the continuous improvement concept. The call for applications is open from 17 December 2019 to 17 January 2020.
This first version of the FSC Forest Stewardship Standard for Ecuador applies to all categories of management units operating in natural forest and plantations and becomes effective on 1 November 2022.
