"Motions in Motion" are global membership meetings, providing a dedicated space for cross chamber discussions around all statutory motions and each chamber’s top five policy motions. It is a space for negotiation, merging, refinement, and amendments in relation to secretariat feasibility analyses and members’ feedback.

FSC Members propose motions to prioritize issues or ideas that are important for the development of FSC. A motion is a proposal to change or create an FSC Policy or Statute through member discussion, debate and voting. Submitting a motion is one of the most important actions an FSC member can take. Statutory motions are proposals to amend the FSC Statutes or Principles & Criteria while Policy motions are proposals for amendments to FSC policies or operational procedures.
Climate Change and Biodiversity
Forests are frontline defenders against climate change and biodiversity loss. Topics in this session will include:
- How FSC standards can strengthen forests' resilience to climate change.
- Protecting and restoring biodiversity in managed forests.
- The role of FSC certification in global climate and conservation strategies’.

On Friday, 31 January 2025, we reached the deadline for nominations.
International fashion brand H&M recently committed to source man-made cellulosic fibres used in their products from sustainable sources – particularly from non-ancient and endangered forests and preferencing FSC-certified forests – by the end of 2025. Through this pledge, the company sought to address forest depletion and deforestation. Fibres would also be sourced from recycled textiles and agricultural residues.
Consultation is open from 17 July to 31 August 2023 for your input.
The National Forest Stewardship Standard for Nepal will become effective on 30 March 2020.
The interim national standard for Lao People’s Democratic Republic will become effective on 14 July 2020.
The new standard will contribute to the promotion of responsible forest management and becomes effective on 15 March 2025.
The national forest stewardship standard for Indonesia will be effective by 1 December 2020.
We are inviting stakeholders to apply to participate in a Working Group that will discuss and brainstorm ideas on how to promote the FSC 100% label.
