
The importance of forest stewardship is more apparent than ever as we face global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and social inequities. The FSC Global Strategy 2021-2026 focuses on growing our reach by demonstrating the value and benefits of forest stewardship in combatting these challenges and achieving our 2050 vision of resilient forests sustaining life on earth.
The FSC Global Membership Meeting 2020 presented a general overview and highlights of the achievements in 2020, and general priorities and key issues for 2021.
In order to accommodate several time zones and enable the participation of our members from all regions, the session was held in the morning and repeated in the afternoon. Both sessions ran live and contained the same discussions.

The internal procedure FSC-PRO-10-606 Approval of Forest Stewardship Standards, which describes the approval process of national standards by the Policy and Standards Committee (PSC), has been revised to reflect the FSC Board of Directors decision to streamline the approval process of national standards.

The public consultation on the Update of the FSC Global Strategic Plan 2021-2026 is still ongoing. We would love to hear your views about the strategic direction FSC should take for the future. The consultation platform closes on February 26th, and we are looking forward to receiving your feedback.
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) has decided to set conditions for maintaining association with WOB Timber GmbH based on the recommendations of a panel of external experts (decision panel), which were approved by the FSC International Board of Directors. In June 2023, FSC and WOB Timber signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which stipulates the conditions that WOB Timber shall fulfil within 12 months for maintaining its association with FSC.
This update follows the announcement shared in February 2022 regarding the commencement of phase one of a proposed two-phase multi-year learning process on genetic engineering (GE) in forestry outside of FSC-certified area.
The National Forest Stewardship Standard (NFSS) for Vietnam will become effective on 01 May 2020.
This interim national standard will become effective on 01 December 2020.
