As you might know, the FSC International Board of Directors has made EUDR one of the top priorities for the whole organization worldwide as they expect this project to have impacts way beyond the European Union.
The webinar was the occasion to provide our members with more background information on this theme. FSC organized 2 identical webinars on 25 October 2023 to discuss FSC and the EUDR.
Responsible forest management must consider people as well. This discussion will cover key issues such as:
The rights of Indigenous Peoples and their role in forest governance.
Workers' rights, including fair wages, safe working conditions, and collective bargaining.
Gender equality and how forestry can be more inclusive and equitable.

FSC Ukraine and other Ukrainian organizations jointly organized an international research conference to address challenges faced by the Ukraine forestry sector, and also to explore the opportunity FSC certification represents for the country and the CIS region. The participants also developed a resolution addressed to the Ukrainian government calling for a reform of the national forest sector. The resolution includes the recommendation to use FSC forest management (FM) certification as best practice.
WAZA seeks to boost the use of sustainably sourced products amongst its members.
On 26 and 27 November, the Forest Stewardship Council Regional Meeting of Indigenous Peoples was held in “Ciudad del Saber” (Panama) in a climate of brotherhood and cordiality.

The Forest Management Groups standard (FSC-STD-30-005) is the first forest solution delivered by New Approaches team and has been revised and approved by the FSC International Board of Directors on November 19, less than two years after the establishment of the working group in charge of the revision.
The final results of the Mangifera and Dalbergia wood species transaction verification loop (TV loop) highlight a number of supply chain integrity concerns pertaining to FSC certificate holders, specifically from India. The main findings include fraudulent documentation and large volumes of false claims.
