As you might know, the FSC International Board of Directors has made EUDR one of the top priorities for the whole organization worldwide as they expect this project to have impacts way beyond the European Union.
The webinar was the occasion to provide our members with more background information on this theme. FSC organized 2 identical webinars on 25 October 2023 to discuss FSC and the EUDR.
Responsible forest management must consider people as well. This discussion will cover key issues such as:
The rights of Indigenous Peoples and their role in forest governance.
Workers' rights, including fair wages, safe working conditions, and collective bargaining.
Gender equality and how forestry can be more inclusive and equitable.

FSC will organize webinars between 15 and 18 May to discuss the decisions taken at the latest Board Meeting 77 (BM77). The webinars were initially planned from 26 April, but were rescheduled to give more time to members to prepare and send their questions beforehand.
From 18 to 21 November, the FSC International Board of Directors got together in Bonn, Germany, during the Board Meeting 82 (BM82).
FSC has published and advice note to formally implement the decision made by the FSC Board in January 2020 to streamline and facilitate the transfer of International Generic Indicators version two (IGIs V2-0) to National Forest Stewardship Standards (ADVICE-60-006-01 V1-0 EN Advice Note on Incorporation of new International Generic Indicators introduced with FSC-STD-60-004 V2-0 into National Forest Stewardship Standards).
Rural communities in south-east Tanzania are reaping the fruits of their responsible forest management.
The working group in charge of revising FSC-STD-30-005 V1-1 FSC Standard for Group Entities in Forest Management Groups has already agreed on various points during their first in-person meeting in Sweden.
On July 11th, a webinar for members shared information and answered questions about the implementation of Motion 23 and the pilots. Over 200 members registered and approximately 130 members and stakeholders attended the webinar, showing the interest of members in issues related to IFLs and Motion 23.

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) has reached an important milestone with the approval of the FSC core labour requirements within the Chain of Custody standards. With this new step, the principles of the International Labour Organisation’s (ILO) Core Conventions and the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at work (1998) are integrated into FSC’s Chain of Custody standards.
