The FSC Board of Directors is mandated by the FSC AC statutes to manage the organization. The board of directors is the highest decision-making body in the organization after the FSC General Assembly (which is the supreme authority of the organization), being elected by the FSC membership to guide and provide oversight to the organization.
Members propose motions to prioritize issues or ideas that are important for the development of FSC. A motion is a proposal to change or create a FSC Policy or Statute through member discussion, debate and voting. Statutory motions are proposals to amend the FSC Statutes or Principles & Criteria. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) conducts a Global Client Survey every two years to understand the main benefits and perceived importance of belonging to the FSC system.
Motion 12 was approved at the FSC General Assembly 2014 in Seville, Spain and called for a process to consider the challenges and opportunities for plantation restoration and conversion. Following its approval, a chamber-balanced working group drafted a proposal for potential solutions. Now FSC International invites all stakeholders who would like to contribute to the development of the conversion rules to join a consultative forum webinar with Motion 12 Working Group.
All stakeholders are invited to comment on the draft of the FSC advice note on addressing deliberate false claims. The deadline for commenting is 17 February 2020.
